Mornington Thai Restaurant at night, warm interior glow visible through window with figure inside

The story behind the food

A family kitchen that became a Mornington institution, one plate at a time.

She cooks every dish herself

Noi opened Mornington Thai on Barkly Street to bring the food she grew up with to the Peninsula. She cooks everything herself, without MSG, using the herbs, pastes, and techniques from Bangkok. The spice is not toned down. The pad Thai is the signature dish for a reason.

What keeps people coming back is the same thing that made them come the first time: they can taste that someone cares. At the end of the night, Noi comes out from the kitchen and visits every table. She has been doing it for years.

Authentic Bangkok-style flavours cooked personally by Chef Noi

The best Thai meal I have experienced, and I have had many over the years. The spice was perfect, the duck tender, the vegetables fresh. I highly recommend the Red Curry Duck and the Coconut Ice Cream.
